What does it cover?

Course creator, 2nd Dan, Bob Knowles says “I have worked the doors for 8 years in Bournemouth and can recall many situations where the accredited physical intervention techniques will not work. Usually due to either being under staffed to deal with the physical confrontation, working with people who are not confident enough to back you up, or there’s more than two people involved in a fight.”

Bob has worked with 7th Dan, Phil Cawood to create a real life practical physical intervention course that not only teaches you everything that the accredited courses do but also how to deal with physical confrontation on your own should that event ever happen. The additional techniques include “in close safety”, the “18 inch rule” and the “open palm slap” .Regrettably no awarding body currently endorses these techniques as there is a popular misconception that everything can be dealt with by verbal communication alone. What you will get is a certificate of attendance from DSTO.

Please note: due to the potential dangers of injury doing this kind of training you must sign a disclaimer before taking part and we advise you to consult your GP to ensure that you are fit enough to attend. A very heavy emphasis on this course is put on accountability. No force is too much force if you can justify your actions. DSTO will not be held responsible for inappropriate use of these techniques. Remember that you may have to justify and prove your actions in a Court of law. As they saying goes “it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6”
